They also cost a bit, and require a full copy of Windows, which will run you some money, too.I just want a way to play a game that is created for the Windows operating system on my Mac, without a reboot, without buying a new program or new copy of an operating system I really don’t want to use. Wine actually runs as more of a translator between the instructions in the PC program and the Mac operating system. 
There are emulators you can buy, like Parallels and VMWare Fusion, but these never quite pan out, in my experience, as they always seem to be fraught with issues when connecting peripherals, mice, etc. There’s Boot Camp, which allows you to run a full copy of Windows right on your Intel-based Mac, but it requires a reboot to switch between OS X and Windows environments, which can be tedious. The reasons for this are manifold, including mid-level integrated graphics chips and less customizable hardware, but it shouldn’t be this disparate.There are a few options for running those PC games on Macs, of course.

The first Discworld game was pretty good, Noir was't half bad despite it's limitations, but the second Discworld game was EXCELLENT in almost every regard. Several locations in and outside of Ankh-Morpork, puzzles that actually made a semblance of logical sense, good voice actors and BRILLIANT dialog. Solution by Phil Darke. The humour and distinctive style of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series of books and the original Discworld computer game. Have made them probably the funniest and best available. Discworld 2 continues this tradition. However it should be appreciated that much of the humour is impromptu and not necessarily.
The second is the Comprehend engine games developed by Polarware. Here's where things get a bit more complicated. At the moment, only the first three Comprehend games are ready for testing - Transylvania, Crimson Crown, and OO-Topos. These three are also freely available at the IF-Archive. There is also, however, a re-release of Transylvania also available for free from the Graphics Magician website which isn't yet supported.

As for the other Comprehend games, Talisman will likely be supported in the future, but it requires significant further work. The other remaining games like Transylvania III use a completely different engine, so will remain out of scope for the foreseeable future.
